1. Colorado’s Ouray:
- Since Halfdays was founded in Denver, Colorado, it seemed fitting to start with one of our state’s most beloved but underappreciated mountain villages. Ouray,
- a little mountain town in Colorado’s southwest, is referred to as the Switzerland of America and the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Colorado. Ouray is situated at an elevation of just less than 8,000 feet, nestled inside the San Juan Mountains.
- Ouray was founded as a mining town against the backdrop of the “Old West” in the nineteenth century, and it has had a rich history since then. It’s a well-liked spot for ice climbing in the winter, and the town hosts an annual Ice Climbing Festival. The warmer months, on the other hand, offer countless paths to explore, verdant hills, wildflowers, and expansive vistas of the mountains.
